The members of Oxfam International work together internationally to achieve greater impact in fighting poverty by combining the diverse experiences of its members and of the people and organisations they work with throughout the world.

In all our actions, our ultimate goal is to enable people to exercise their rights and manage their own lives. For this to happen, opportunities must be created so people can participate in governing all aspects of their lives and they must have the freedom and capacity to organise and take advantage of those opportunities.

This is why Oxfam International works primarily through local organisations, giving them active support in their work against poverty and injustice.
